Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a powerful tool that can enhance learning and teaching in K–12 education. However, it also poses challenges and risks that need to be addressed with care and caution. The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) provides a guidance for educators and education leaders on how to use AI in public education in a human-centered, ethical, and safe manner. The guidance introduces a model of H =>AI=>H, which emphasizes human inquiry, reflection, insight, and empowerment as the key elements of AI integration. The guidance aims to empower Washington’s students to lead in the world they are helping to create with AI.
