Managed Methods - Compromised Account in Google? Yeah, I've got some...What now?

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Every school district in the country relies on cloud-based suites (Google & Microsoft) to create and share content internally, with parents, and with the public. It's how we communicate most quickly online.

Recent data breaches are sending out alarm bells for K12 IT teams. Weak passwords lead to compromised accounts and flimsy file-sharing practices can open the doors to a treasure trove of sensitive information, records, IEP's, etc. These don’t qualify as "sophisticated hacking" and with ransomware attacks surging in the education world, they are likely to continue happening.

In cybersecurity, it's crucial to build fences and lock down networks. But it's also apparent there's a human element that needs to be continuously monitored. For example, responding to compromised account notifications and keeping an eye on file share permissions and shared drives.

Bring your laptop with you to this session to participate! During our time together we'll walk through a scenario and learn about prevention, investigation, and remediation techniques in Google with our friends from Olympia SD. We'll also discuss shared drive configurations, monitoring, auditing, digging deep into compromised account activity, and best practices for managing your Google and/or Microsoft domains across the board
